A new step towards prevention, awareness, and accessible healthcare has begun in Tezpur.
On 20th April 2026, Shankara Cancer and Research Institute (SCRI) inaugurated its dedicated Vaccination Clinic under the leadership of Dr Venkata Pradeep Babu Koyyala, a nationally eminent medical oncologist and an active contributor to multiple medical and healthcare advisory bodies.
The clinic was inaugurated by jointly by Dr Anup Kumar Bhattacharjee, seniormost and first anaesthesiologist of Sonitpur district who retired as Superintendent of Kanakalata Civil Hospital along with another distinguished doctor, Dr Aparajita Baruah, a senior psychiatrist who retired as a professor from the Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) in the presence of CEO Dr Venkata Pradeep, COO Devajit Kalita, the Clinical Research team, healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical company representatives, and staff members of SCRI.
This initiative has been launched with the vision of improving awareness and access to preventive healthcare measures, including vaccination against certain cancers and other diseases.
Patients and attendants visiting the clinic expressed happiness and encouragement at the availability of such a facility within their surroundings. As part of the initiative, awareness kits were distributed containing information on:
• The extensive years of scientific research behind vaccines
• The importance of timely vaccination
• Addressing myths and misinformation that may prevent lifesaving opportunities
The initiative reflects SCRI’s continued commitment towards community-oriented healthcare, where prevention and awareness are considered essential pillars of better health outcomes.
With the launch of this clinic, Tezpur takes another meaningful step forward in strengthening preventive healthcare services for its citizens.
