On 16th March, Dr. Venkata Pradeep Babu Koyyala, Director of SCRI, participated in a cancer awareness program at Kawoi Mari village in Nagaon district.
During the session, he engaged with the community on crucial topics such as cervical cancer, HPV vaccination, healthy dietary practices, and the risks of alcohol, smoking, and tobacco use.
He shared a powerful reflection — that meaningful change in society does not always arrive as a dramatic shift. Sometimes, it begins quietly… as a conversation that removes fear, a question that challenges a myth, or a mother choosing awareness to protect her child.
Cervical cancer remains one of the most preventable cancers. With timely screening, increased awareness, and HPV vaccination, countless lives can be safeguarded.
What stood out most was the strength, curiosity, and openness of the women in the community — a reminder that healthcare extends far beyond hospital walls. It grows in villages, in shared understanding, and in trust built over conversations.
If even one individual takes a step towards screening, vaccination, or a healthier lifestyle, a meaningful ripple of change has already begun.
