SCRI celebrates International Nurses Day honouring the strength and compassion of Oncology Nurses

On the occasion of International Nurses Day, Shankara Cancer and Research Institute (SCRI) celebrated and honoured the dedication, compassion, and resilience of its nursing team, led by Ms. Ganga Rani Laishram.

Working in oncology comes with unique emotional and professional challenges. Beyond clinical care, oncology nurses often stand beside patients and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives — from supporting those undergoing intensive treatments to caring for terminally ill patients with dignity, empathy, and emotional strength.

The occasion also reflected upon the vital role nurses play in:
• Providing psychological reassurance to patients and families
• Supporting patients through fear, uncertainty, and long treatment journeys
• Delivering compassionate care while maintaining clinical excellence
• Acting as a bridge between patients, families, and doctors

SCRI also acknowledged the continued encouragement and academic support extended by Dr. Venkata Pradeep Babu Koyyala, Director of SCRI, towards the professional learning and growth of the nursing team. Through regular academic interactions, training opportunities, and a collaborative environment, the institution continues to strengthen oncology nursing practices with both skill and compassion.

The celebration served as a reminder that nurses are not only caregivers, but also pillars of emotional support, courage, and hope within the cancer care journey.

SCRI expresses heartfelt gratitude to all nurses for their unwavering commitment to patient care and humanity.
